Thad Henry Fial, Jr. WWII Vet/ Devoted Husband
Thad H. Fial, Jr., 87, of Harwich MA, formerly of Lake Packanack, NJ, passed away on December 23, 2011, at Cape Cod Hospital. He is survived by his sister, Marianne, and brother-in-law, Al, Gletow of Brick, NJ.
Mr. Fial was pre-deceased by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn S. Fial; his daughter, Laurie Gretchen Fial Winkler; and his son, Todd Douglas Fial, Capt. U.S. MM.
He was born in Garfield, NJ, son of Thad and Maria Fial.
He served in the U. S. Army during WWII with the medical corps. He was at the Battle of the Bulge, the Invasion of Normandy, and D-Day. He worked hard for various companies after his service to his country: Sun Chemical Corp., Retail Credit Corp., Bendix Aviation, Magnus Ryan, Tenneco Chemicals, Inc., and Witco.
Following his retirement from the corporate purchasing department of Witco Chemical Corporation of Oakland, NJ, the Fial’s moved to their favorite vacation spot, Cape Cod, in 1997, where he promptly and proudly declared his continued patriotism with the display of a well-lit American flag.
He will be remembered for his devotion to his beloved wife, Evie. Their continued love was their strength and an inspiration to friends who became ‘extended family.’
Arrangements are through the Morris O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home of Harwich, and burial will be in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 11:00 AM.
