Richard T. "Mickey" Finn, 89, passed away peacefully at Eagle Pond Rehab & Living Center, So. Dennis, Ma. on Thursday, June 28, 2012. He was the husband of Lorraine (Coroso) Finn, whom he was married to for 64 years.
Born December 30, 1922 in Springfield, Ma., the son of the late James and Emma (Dryer) Finn. He attended Cathedral High School in Springfield. Mickey proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He received the Purple Heart medal after being wounded during combat. He met the love of his life, Lorraine, and was married October 11, 1947. They lived in East Hartford, Ct, where Mickey worked for the U.S. Post Office for more than 30 years. They moved to Cape Cod when he retired.
Mickey had a great passion for sports. He was an avid golfer and was actually quite good at it. He loved to play cards and enjoyed going to the race track. He was very devoted to his wife and cared for her for several years when she had acquired Alzheimer’s disease. He was a wonderful husband and a great father. He will truly be missed.
In addition to his loving wife, Mickey is survived by his two children, a daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Finn of Wrightsville, Pa; and a son, Michael Finn and his wife Michele of Old Lyme, Ct; a sister Rita Skala and her husband Henry of So. Dennis, Ma; longtime family friend Cynthia Rhoades; one grandchild, and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Mickey’s daughter would like to thank all of the staff at Eagle Pond for the wonderful care, love and comfort that he received during the last 2 1/2 years of his life.
There will be no viewing. After cremation, a graveside service will be held at 9:30am on July 5, 2012 at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Ma. with full military honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home in So. Yarmouth, Ma.
