Clare Ann Ryan, loving mother, was born on September 16, 1927 in New Bedford and lived there for most of her life. She relocated to Harwich several years ago where she enjoyed her remaining years on Cape Cod. She passed away peacefully on July 18th with her family at her bedside and a double rainbow outside her window. Although her journey has ended, her spirit will live on through her three children and three grandchildren. Raised in the Catholic faith, she will be at peace with the Lord.
She lived her life simply with dignity, strength and courage. She enjoyed being with and nurturing her family and friends, and spending time outdoors especially at the beach. She was a big Red Sox fan.
She is survived by her son Robert Ryan and his partner Marjorie Valm of Dartmouth, daughter Jo-Ann Ryan and husband Mike Couto of Wareham, and daughter Pat Ryan-Blanchard and husband Bryon Blanchard of Harwich as well as her grandchildren Paige Ryan and fiancé Peter Katsoules of New Bedford, Turner Ryan and girlfriend Rebecca Tiedemann of New Bedford, and Nathan Blanchard of Harwich.
She was grateful for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Shackelford, and the staff at Cape Cod Hospital, VNA Hospice of Cape Cod and Liberty Commons. In respect to her wishes, a private memorial service will be held on her birthday in September.
Donations can be made in her name to the Harwich Fire Department or VNA Hospice of Cape Cod.
