Long, James Michael of East Dennis died on Tuesday, July 24 at the age of 75.

He was the beloved husband of Ann (Malatesta) Long for 54 years.

He is also survived by his two daughters, Chrysa Long of Boston and Martha Long DiGregorio and her husband Rick of Norwell. He is the grandfather of Mairead Reilly, James and Sarah DiGregorio and brother of Katharine Mattair, Joseph Long, Arlene Savasta, David Long and the late John, Thomas, Rosalie, S.N.D. and Mary, S.N. D.

Mr. Long graduated from Christopher Columbus High School Class of 1954 and earned his undergraduate and masters degrees from Boston State College. Mr. Long was a longtime educator and coach at Burlington High School and Belmont High School. He was a contract negotiator for the Massachusetts Teachers Association and an officer of the Burlington Educators’ Association for many years.

Mr. Long was an avid woodcarver, fisherman and a founding member of the “Pocasset Clydesdales”

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.
