Harold Daniel Anderson, 84, of South Dennis, died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at McCarthy Hope Hospice in Sandwich.
Born on November 18, 1928 in Midvale, New Jersey, he was the beloved son of Edwin and Ellen (Peterson) Anderson.
Harold proudly served in the Korean War where he received the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star and a United Nations Service Medal.
A second generation custom home builder for most of his adult life, Harold relocated to Cape Cod where he continued to build homes while owning and operating the Widow's Walk and The Surf Motels in Dennisport. Although officially retired, Harold continued the work he loved, performing home repairs and renovations for the lucky ones who knew him. When not doing renovation projects, he enjoyed vegetable gardening and golfing at the Dennis golf courses.
Survived by his loving wife Patricia (Barrett), his daughter Patricia Rosenberg of Hamden, CT; son Donald and his wife Cynthia of Wellesley Hills, MA, and three grandsons, Mark, David and Jeffrey Rosenberg.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, Hope Dementia & Alzheimer's Services, and especially McCarthy Hope Hospice of Sandwich, where they took much comfort in knowing that the man who was a master of his trade took his final rest in such architecturally beautiful surroundings and with such loving care.
A private burial will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Donations in Harold's memory may be made to Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, 68 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660 or Hope Dementia & Alzheimer's Services/McCarthy House, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
