Isadore (IZ) Richman of West Yarmouth, MA, passed away peacefully Sunday after a long illness, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
He was born in Lawrence, MA, in 1913 the son of the late Celia and Nathan Richman. Isadore served honorably in combat in North Africa and Italy as an Army Medic and Dental assistant during WWII.
He returned home and became a partner in Richman and Sons Dry Cleaners in Brighton together with his father and brothers until he retired to his home on Cape Cod.
For many years he was an active member of The Cape Cod Synagogue in Hyannis where he and his wife Selma shared many happy occasions and dear friends. They enjoyed their traveling to the Caribbean, Europe, and frequent trips to Israel.
He is survived by Selma, his loving wife of 67 years, and two children Ellen Fisher of Ashville, NY, and James Richman and daughter-in-law Camilla Richman of Yarmouth. He also leaves a sister Marion Elfman of Brookline, two grandchildren Lee Fisher and his wife Crystal of South Carolina and Karen Wilson and her husband Chris of North Carolina and two great-grandchildren Abigail and Ethan Wilson of North Carolina as well as many nieces and nephews. Isadore is predeceased by his brothers Benjamin and Arthur Richman and a sister Frances Berkowitz.
Funeral Services will be held at the Cape Cod Synagogue, 145 Winter Street, Hyannis, MA, on Wednesday, March 13 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery, Summer Street in Yarmouthport. For directions go to www.woodsidecem.org.
The family will be receiving family and friends at home for a period of mourning (Shiva) after burial at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be made to The Cape Cod Synagogue or the VNA Hospice of Cape Cod, or The Cape Regency Nursing Facility in Centerville.
