Ronald E. “Ron Z” Poirier, 58 of Brewster, passed away peacefully May 3rd with his wife and sister by his side.
Ron leaves his beloved wife Josephine “Jody” Poirier. He was born in Central Falls RI, the son of Leo T. Poirier of Smithfield, RI and Doris (Campbell) Poirier of Rochester, NH. He also leaves his sisters Claudette Davis of Rochester, NH, Celeste Lessard of NH, and Kimberly Nobrega of Blackstone, MA and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John. Ron was the brother in law of Liz, Howard, Peter & Donna Arnold of Cape Cod.
Ron served in the military from 1973 to 1982. First in the Marine Corp where he was an Electronics Technician and later in the Army where he was a Medic and attended Helicopter Pilot School. Ron also became an Army Recruiter.
He moved to the Cape in 1982 where he worked in the Injection Molding and Machinery industry. He used his expertise in injection molds to create fishing lures for himself. In 2003 he started the RONZ Fishing Lure Company. He achieved much notoriety locally and beyond as he shipped his baits worldwide and appeared on On the Water TV fishing for tuna.
Ron lived life to the fullest. He was a very positive person and an inspiration especially as he battled his illness.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 7 from 4-7 pm at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main St. Harwich Center. A funeral will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 8 at 11 am. Burial will be private.
